About Me:
I was born in Harlem and grew up in Puerto Rico and The Bronx. In the late 70's my uncle Jimmy introduced me to computers at the college he attended. Loud card readers/punchers and monochrome terminals, I was hooked. Started working in IT at the age of 14 doing data entry for Blythedale Children Hospital in Valhalla, NY. When not at work, squeezed programming time at the library and school on Apple IIe, TRS-80, Commodore(64, CPM and Vic 20), Atari PC and PC Jr. Worked at a number of firms and organizations such as Marsh & McLennan, GE, MVP Healthcare, and Computer Sciences Corporation, and Farm Family Insurance. My last "gig" was at The National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum where I was their Director of Information Services. Received a BA in Computer Science from the University at Albany and a Master of Liberal Arts (ALM) in Information Technology, Information Management Systems from Harvard University. Hope to not a see another textbook for a while! Started a scholarship some years ago and we will be helping our 4th and perhaps 5th student enter college this year. Currently, on the Board of Directors of Albany Community Action Partnership (ACAP) and mentor for Careerlinks Program of ACAP.
