Garnet River designed and implemented an Oracle Portal for a large research institution used by scientists and their clients and partners. Custom applications (or portlets) developed by Garnet River allow various departments to publish press releases, post job openings, track job applicants and resumes, and collaborate on research projects.

The centerpiece of the portal is the Client Lab, a secure site that allows scientists and their clients and partners to collaborate on research projects. Through the use of dynamically generated portal groups, access controls are established to determine who can manage projects, upload documents and view project content. Since access is granted at the project level, a user can be associated with more than one project and a user's access level can vary from project to project. The portal allows administrative rights to be delegated to Client Lab Administrators, allowing them to create accounts and projects and to grant access rights.
