Employee Performance Appraisal SystemThe Fashion Institute of Technology is a public university that must comply with a strict set of procedures in appraising faculty performance. Prior to the Employee Performance Appraisal application developed by Garnet River, this process was paper based. Supervisors would complete an appraisal questionnaire for each of their employees, and the paper would move from department to department until Human Resources received it, approved it and filed it away. Human Resources had no easy way to enforce timely completion of appraisals and no way to determine trends in their employees' skill sets and core competencies. The Employee Performance Appraisal application has automated this process, making it paperless, efficient and trackable. Appraisals are now completed and managed online and stored in a central database where they are readily accessible by the Human Resources department. With the help of a built-in reminder and escalation system, Human Resources and upper management can keep appraisals on schedule. The system provides supervisors with a "to do" list of appraisals that are upcoming or in progress, and tracks a confidential dialog between supervisors, department heads and Human Resources during the course of the appraisal. Employees have easy access to view and provide responses to their completed appraisals. Human Resources now has the ability to generate reports that highlight strengths and weaknesses of departments, supervisors and employees. These reports help Human Resources identify individuals and groups in need of remedial training and skill development. Architecture
